Strong Prices in Americana

Locati LLC presented the  The Americana Collection of C Thomas Attix, Jr. sale on May 19th. Participation for the auction came from five competing online platforms, absentee bids and a strong floor presence. "We had a full house for the live auction" commented Michael Locati, Co-owner, "People made an effort to travel for the auction, and it was great to meet so many friendly and knowledgeable collectors and dealers", continued Locati. The auction consisted of 263 quality lots, all Americana with the exception of a small collection of fine antique rugs. "We think a collection of this size and quality is a perfect fit for our company and we prioritize detailed cataloging and enough pictures to give bidders confidence" remarked Locati. Highlights include a New Jersey Girlhood Pictorial Needlework, House Sampler, which hammered at $7,250 and a Broderie Perse Chintz Applique Quilt, Probably New Jersey, Circa 1835 soared to $15,500. A Miniature Pennsylvania Sheraton Tiger Maple Chest, Chester County had a strong high bid of $5,000 and a Thomas Stretch, Philadelphia Queen Anne Walnut Tall Case Clock had a healthy bid of $10,000.
